George Washington completed his second term as the first President of the United States in 1797. He had grown weary of the political infighting surrounding the presidency and longed for the peace of retirement to his beloved Mount Vernon. Unfortunately, his retirement only lasted less than three years as he died on December 14, 1799 at age 67. #GeorgeWashington #military #firstpresident
